Project 1: Fettuccine Truss Bridge

In a group of 6, we were required to make a truss bridge using fettuccine the only material. Throughout the project, we had made diffent types fettuccine bridge using different methods in order to achieve higher stabilty and efficiency of the truss bridge.

Project 2: Extension of a R.C. bungalow

In the same group of 6, we were asked to select a not more than 3-storey building and obtain its structural plan, elevations and sections. The individual part of this project divided us into analysing beams and columns. Each of us was asked to analyse 6 beams and 6 columns.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand tension and compressive strength of construction material

2. Understand force distribution in a truss

Project 3: PROPOSAL FOR ADAPTIVE REUSE

This project required us to propose for potential new usage for building conservation. As individual, I were asked to investigate and observe practices and approaches on architecture conservation in Malaysia. The same building is used as that in project 2, Coliseum Theatre. My proposal is to turned the current theatre into a music academy in order to rejuvenate the city as well as for learning purpose.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Gain exposure to a wide and diverse range of practice and debate in the field

2. Learn to appreciate heritage buildings and the importance of conservation in continuing the history to next generaion.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Explore and understand the concept of structural analysis

2. Identify structural components

3. Recognize, Execute and implement basic procedures of building structure design
